Let's Walk Privacy Policy
Effective June 3, 2026
This policy describes what data the Let's Walk app collects, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It is written in plain language on purpose — please let us know if anything is unclear.
Let's Walk is a Charleston-based nonprofit that pairs volunteers with senior clients for companion walks. This app is provided by Let's Walk to help volunteers record walks and stay connected with the program. References to "we," "our," and "us" mean Let's Walk and the people who operate the program.
We collect only the information we need to run the volunteer program:
Your sign-in details. When you sign in with Apple or Google, our authentication provider (Auth0 by Okta) shares your email address and the name on your account with us, plus a unique sign-in identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we only see the relay address Apple gives us.
Your walks. While a walk is in progress, the app records your precise GPS location to map the route and calculate distance. We also save the start and end time, the duration, the distance, any notes you choose to write, and which clients the walk was with.
Your client assignments. The clients who appear in your list come from the Let's Walk program coordinators (in Salesforce). We don't ask you to enter that information.
We do not collect health data, contacts, photos, microphone audio, camera images, or any advertising identifier. The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs.
The app only requests your location while a walk is active. With "While Using" permission, location is collected only when the app is in the foreground. With "Always" permission, the app can keep recording in the background so you don't lose your route when you put your phone in your pocket.
Location data is uploaded to our database as part of the walk record. We don't use it for anything other than showing you (and program coordinators) where the walk happened.
You can change the app's location permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Let's Walk.
We use this information to:
Let you sign in and identify which walks belong to you.
Display your walk history, distance, and routes.
Share walk records with Let's Walk program coordinators so the program can track client engagement.
Sync walks to the Let's Walk operational records (Salesforce).
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for any marketing.
We share information with service providers who help us run the program. They handle data on our behalf and aren't allowed to use it for their own purposes:
Auth0 (Okta) — handles sign-in.
Supabase — hosts our database and runs the server-side parts of the app.
Salesforce — the program's operational system of record, where walks and client assignments live.
Apple — when you sign in with Apple, your interaction with Apple's sign-in flow is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Google — when you sign in with Google, your interaction with Google's sign-in flow is governed by Google's privacy policy.
We do not share your data with anyone else.
Walk records are kept indefinitely as part of the program's records — they help coordinators understand client engagement over time. If you delete your account, your sign-in details and personal profile (name, email, avatar) are removed, but the walks you logged remain associated with the program (without your personal information attached).
You can delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Account → Delete My Account. This signs you out, removes your sign-in identity so you can't sign back in with the same email, and clears your name, email, and profile picture from our records. Your walk history stays with Let's Walk so coordinators can keep their client records intact.
If you'd like more of your data removed than the in-app delete provides, contact us at the address below.
Let's Walk volunteers are adults. This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll remove it.
You can ask us what data we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us at privacy@letswalk.us and we'll respond as soon as we can. California, EU, and UK residents may have additional rights under their local laws; the same email address is the right place to start.
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and inside the app. Material changes will be called out when you next open the app.
